PULSE’s second-year consortium meeting: Communication is key
24 months into the project, the consortium met to share results, synchronize efforts, and decide on the next steps towards important milestones.

From 27 to 28 March 2025, the PULSE consortium gathered to share results, synchronize efforts, and strategize for key milestones. Hosted by the Otto-von-Guericke University at Magdeburg, the hybrid meeting provided an essential forum for partners to align their work and advance the project’s ambitious goals.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the update on the acoustic and magnetic levitation device from Ezgi Çevik of Maastricht University. This technology plays a critical role in PULSE’s mission to develop a novel 3D bioprinting paradigm for space. Additionally, Miguel Ferreira from Space Applications Services provided insights into the project’s first parabolic flight, which will simulate microgravity conditions, as well as updates on preparations for the launch to the International Space Station.
Beyond technical discussions, the meeting was instrumental in refining strategies, clarifying expectations, and ensuring seamless coordination across the consortium. With partners spanning multiple disciplines and institutions, such alignment is key to successfully advancing PULSE’s pioneering research.
Funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC), PULSE is exploring how acoustic and magnetic fields can be leveraged to bioprint complex tissue structures in space. By addressing challenges in regenerative medicine and spaceflight, the project holds promise for both astronaut health and medical applications on Earth.
